The T-metropolitana physical card costs 4.5 euros. This is a one-time payment and only needs to be made when you are granted any type of T-metropolitana for the first time.

The T-metropolitana Reduced-fare pink card has no management fees. It allows you to load the T-4, which does have a cost. The price of the T-4 includes the mandatory travel insurance.

The T-metropolitana Free pink card and the T-metropolitana Companion pass require a one-time annual payment covering management fees and mandatory travel insurance. You can check the amount on the T-metropolitana page of the AMB website.

• If you have direct debit set up, you don’t need to do anything.
• If you don’t have direct debit, you have two months to pay. Just follow the instructions included in the documents sent with the T-metropolitana Free pink card. If you don’t pay the fee within this period, your T-metropolitana will be blocked until you pay. Once paid, it will be unblocked and you can use it again.

For proper use, the T-metropolitana must be validated each time you use public transport, and the cardholder must carry their DNI or NIE.

To validate it, hold the T-metropolitana close to the screen of the contactless card readers (the same ones used for cancelling the T-mobilitat) found on buses and at stations. You should not insert it into the magnetic stripe ticket validator.

If the card does not work at the metro validators, report it immediately to the customer service agent on duty. Afterwards, you will need to request a duplicate of the T-metropolitana.

If the card does not work at the bus validators, you must purchase an incident ticket through the incident ticket purchase service. Then, request the blocking and duplication of the T-metropolitana.

In the next section, we explain how to request a duplicate of the T-metropolitana.

If you lose your T-metropolitana, it is stolen, or it stops working, you can request it to be blocked and a duplicate issued.

You can make the request:

• By calling the freephone 900 700 077 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm). They will send the new T-metropolitana to your home.
• In person at the AMB Information and Services Office, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm (via Laietana, 33, 4th floor, 1a, Barcelona). An appointment is required.

Once you have requested the duplicate, the original T-metropolitana cannot be unblocked even if you find it.

• If you have lost or had your T-metropolitana stolen, or if it has been physically damaged, you will need to pay 4.5 euros for the card.
• If the T-metropolitana stops working (but the card itself is not damaged) within the first five years, the duplicate is free as it is under warranty.
• If the T-metropolitana stops working but is no longer within the five-year warranty period, you will need to pay the 4.5 euros for the card again.

The T-metropolitana is renewed automatically every year as long as you continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
