The metro has now reached the Marina district
The line 10 Sud is going into service with two newly created stations: Foc and Foneria
Line 10 Sud between the stations of Collblanc and Foc will go into operation on 8 September from 3 p.m.
This new section of the metro, 4.5 km long, includes five stations, three of which it shares with line 9 Sud (Can Tries / Gornal, Torrassa and Collblanc) and two that are newly built: Foneria and Foc, situated along the axis of the Passeig de la Zona Franca and the Marina neighbourhood in the district of Sants-Montjuïc in Barcelona.
During August TMB worked on operational tests without passengers, achieving a service frequency of a train every 7'20'' at peak times, the same as line 9 Sud.
The opening of this new line connects Zona Franca with the rest of Barcelona, the airport, L'Hospitalet and El Prat de Llobregat. This represents a notable improvement in the connectivity of a neighbourhood of the city with a significant population and an area from which many workers commute. This is a very positive factor for the region's ongoing development.
The new section of the metro has all the attributes associated with automated lines: innovation, technology and safety, representing the growth of the automated metro network and an increase in the number of adapted stations.
The next step for the Line 10 Sud project is planned with the incorporation of stations at Ciutat de la Justícia and Provençana.
