WeChat account for Chinese visitors
We have opened a new WeChat account for Chinese visitors to Barcelona.
TMB now has a WeChat profile, the leading Chinese social network, with over 1,000 million users. The aim is for Chinese visitors to discover the highlights of Barcelona, through the brand Hola Barcelona and through the application be able to purchase our tourist services: the Barcelona Bus Turístic, the Montjuïc Cable Car and the Hola Barcelona Travel Card.
With this project, we are the first transport operator of Spain to be present in this social network, following the experience of RATP, the Paris public transport operator.
WeChat is the leading social network in China, and also the first mobile payment solution. In a single platform, Chinese users can access features of other social networks (such as accessing news and games), private messaging and shop on their mobile with various methods of payment.
Users interact with WeChat through reading QR codes from their smartphone. From now on, they can also find them on the metro of Barcelona. We have installed labels with QR codes at various metro stations near the main tourist attractions of the city. In the first phase, these codes can be found in the lobbies of the most popular metro stations for Chinese visitors.
Improving the travel experience of Chinese visitors
WeChat visitors usually organize their visit to the city independently, to discover experiences outside the normal tourist routes. By opening a profile in WeChat, TMB can instantly offer Chinese tourists an additional service in their own language. This service includes information to discover the city, how to travel on public transport, along with a customer service and facilities to purchase tourist mobility services.
WeChat complements the Hola Barcelona website and social services profiles, providing information adapted to Chinese travellers, particularly those who do not know the Western alphabet, such as English.
