Another year, summer is over and the city dresses up to host La Mercè, Barcelona's city party, the festival of festivals.

From the 23th to the 28th of September, the streets are filled with light, color and joy, honoring Barcelona's cultural wealth, known throughout the world.

The daily journeys made by bus and metro prevent the emission of 1.6 tonnes of CO₂. During La Mercè 2025, if a similar number of trips is recorded as last year, public transport will avoid nearly one tonne of CO₂ emissions.

The spaces of La Mercè

During the days of the Festa Major, the streets, squares and parks breathe a festive atmosphere: from the nerve center of Plaça de Sant Jaume and the Gothic streets, to the main parks; from the more spacious avenues and the attractions and shows of Barceloneta and the waterfront, which can accommodate more audiences, to the pyromusical of Avinguda Maria Cristina; from the most emblematic buildings that participate each year to the actions that are held in all the districts.

The Barcelona City Council has scheduled numerous activities and events of various kinds for all audiences. From the most ancestral traditions to the most innovative trends, through different disciplines such as music, dance, theater or sport.

Thanks to La Mercè, all the city's inhabitants of all ages have their own space to enjoy these very special days.
