How do the special bus services work?

We explain everything you need to know about how to use the special services.

The special services provided during disruptions to the metro are mostly articulated buses that follow a similar route to the section of line where works are being carried out, adjusting the intervals to make them as similar as possible to the usual metro service.

The bus service for each of the disruptions has been carefully thought out:

  • Planning the number of vehicles in each time slot based on the capacity of the trains.
  • Studying the impact above ground when scheduling services.
  • Following universal accessibility criteria, ensuring accessible routes are available.
  • Deactivating metro-bus validation so that when you transfer from the metro to the shuttle bus you are only using one journey.

How should the special bus services be used?

When you come across a section of line on your journey affected by the works, follow the signs on the platforms and in the station lobby. Together with the information provided via the loudspeaker system, these will direct you out of the station. At the station, you will find situation maps on how to get to the special bus service stop, and staff on hand to provide you with information and guidance. 

The stops along the special bus service route will be the same as those on the metro line. Keep an eye on the information systems on board the bus.

Special Bus Service for Partial Closures of L4 and L11

The metro service closure on L4 between Verdaguer and Trinitat Nova from June 25 to August 31, and from Maragall to Trinitat Nova from September 1 to 7, as well as the closure of L11 between Trinitat Nova and Casa de l’Aigua from June 25 to September 7, will have special bus services that will cover these routes.

There will also be a special bus service for people with disabilities and reduced mobility between Girona and Verdaguer stations from June 25 to August 31.

The special bus operates during the metro service hours. The connection between the metro and the special bus is not guaranteed on the last departures.
