One Planet, One Plan
Public transport plays a crucial role in the fight against local air pollution and climate change.
We only have one planet and we only need one plan to conserve it from the climate crisis. "One Planet, One Plan" is a campaign led by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), which puts forward a four-step action plan to conserve the environment and fight against climate change.
In this action plan, the UITP highlights the role of public transport as an essential aspect and places it as the backbone of public mobility.
TMB has joined this international initiative, which reminds worldwide leaders on the importance of including public transport in state strategies against the climate crisis. The four core aspects of the action plan proposed by the campaign to local governments are:
- Urban planning to promote cities suitable for walking and cycling, in combination with public transport networks.
- Public transport as a central part of an integrated transport system, to reduce the use of private vehicles.
- Investment in clean energies in public transport to achieve energy transition.
- Incentives in the use and implementation of sustainable energy installations and sources.
The campaign can be followed on social networks with the hashtag #ONEPLANet. They can also be seen on the MouTV screens in the bus and metro.
