New uniform for TMB staf
A journey through time showcasing the evolution of employees' attire.
We present the new uniform during the Centennary
During the Centenary of the metro, the new uniform has been introduced, which the TMB staff will wear starting in 2027 on the metro and bus networks. The new attire emphasizes comfort and presents a more modern and refreshed image, while maintaining TMB's corporate colors.
The current uniform, in use since 1996, needed a renewal to better adapt to modern times and the daily tasks of the staff. Therefore, the new uniform conveys a more modern and comfortable look, with a casual style and ergonomic tailoring, adapted for both men and women.
To design and produce the models, results from a survey conducted in February 2022 were taken into account.
This new attire will refresh the image of both frontline workers and management, focusing on functionality and comfort. For this reason, lightweight fabrics were chosen, with short sleeves for summer and warm, long-sleeved fabrics for winter.
The new designs offer different options for pants and skirts, as well as various choices for tops and fabric clothing, according to individual comfort and the season. The tie has been eliminated.
TMB's corporate colors remain prominent, and the new uniform plays with red and maroon, along with gray details, respecting the corporate image.
The new uniform was presented at an official event on May 22.
A historical uniformity for the city
Over the hundred years of the Barcelona metro, the evolution has not only been about the logo. The history of public transportation in Barcelona can also be told through the uniforms, which have always been part of the identity of the metro and bus companies.
The trend has been clear: moving towards clothing that is increasingly comfortable and functional. From the uniforms with a somewhat "military" air worn by the drivers of CGA (General Bus Company, the predecessor of Transports de Barcelona), which featured a flat cap, to a less formal, more modern, and practical attire. In the seventies, coinciding with the municipalization of public transport, shirts with lapels in blue tones were introduced, which eventually evolved into red tones, aligning more with TMB's corporate colors.
Thus, in 1996, the current attire was introduced, characterized by a vertical striped red shirt, which in 2027 will be replaced by a more casual piece of clothing: polo shirts.
