Public transport, and especially the TMB service, exists to guarantee the mobility of all people in the Barcelona metropolitan area.
To achieve this, we work every day to improve the accessibility of our facilities and vehicles, making it easier for everyone to use them comfortably and safely.
A very important part of this work is the installation of ramps and lifts to access stations and their different areas, such as ticket halls, platforms, or connecting corridors between lines. We also reserve spaces for wheelchair users and provide priority seating and areas for people with reduced mobility.
All these spaces are for priority use by people with reduced mobility. That is why we speak of absolute priority. In addition, lifts, wheelchair spaces, and priority seating are marked with specific signage using pictograms. These pictograms generally represent different situations and needs related to reduced mobility.
This year, the campaign to promote respect for absolute priority focuses on these pictograms. The aim is to remind everyone that behind each symbol there are real people, with real needs, who have absolute priority in the use of reserved and priority spaces.
