Disruptions and recommended transport
On June 9 and 10, due to Pope Leo XIV’s visit, there will be disruptions to bus and metro service in Barcelona.
This service notice is currently being prepared. We will keep it updated with any new disruptions that may occur.
Impact on the Raval neighborhood
Due to the events scheduled around the Church of Sant Agustí, traffic restrictions will be in place on several streets and in various areas of the Raval neighborhood on June 9.
The affected area includes Calle del Hospital, between La Rambla and Rambla del Raval, Carrer de l'Arc de Sant Agustí, and Plaça de la Gardunya.
- Bus routes that have been rerouted or have limited service: 59.
- Duration of the disruption: from the start to the end of the service.
Impact on the Olympic Stadium - Montjuïc Mountain
On June 9, there will be traffic restrictions and bus route detours in the Montjuïc area around the Anella Olímpica. These measures will mainly affect Passeig Olímpic, Avinguda de l'Estadi, and the carrer dels Jocs del 92.
Tour of Carrer Cinc d'Oros – Sagrada Familia and event
On June 10, the Pope’s visit to the Sagrada Familia will require the deployment of extensive security and traffic management measures, which will result in traffic restrictions and significant changes to bus and metro service. The route taken by Pope Leo XIV between Plaza Cinc d'Oros and Carrer Lepant, as well as the area between Carrer Còrsega and Carrer València, will be subject to road closures and special traffic controls throughout the day.
- Bus routes that have been rerouted or have limited service: H8, H10, V17, V19, V21, D50, 6, 19, 33, 34, 39, 47, 114 and Barcelona Bus Turístic (Blue and Red Router).
- Duration of the disruption: from the start to the end of the service.
Subway service will also be affected during this time:
- L2 and L5: No service at Sagrada Familia station. Trains will not stop at the station all day. Service on the rest of the line will operate as usual.
- L4: At Verdaguer station, during peak hours, passengers will only be able to exit the station. Access to Metro Line 4 will not be available.
Please note that, until October, the connecting corridor between metro lines L4 and L5 at Verdaguer station will be closed.
Recommended transport
Due to disruptions in bus service, we recommend using the subway to travel to the locations where Pope Leo XIV’s visits are taking place.
To get to the Sagrada Familia area, you need to get off at the station before or after it: Verdaguer (L4/L5) or Sant Pau | Dos de Maig (L5).
Plan your route using the Journey Planner or the TMB App.
