Advertising on leisure transport
Leisure transport is transport not for the mobility of people living and working in the city but for those visiting as tourists. This category includes unique forms of transport (Montjuïc cable car and Tramvia Blau) and sightseeing buses (Barcelona Bus Turístic and Catalunya Bus Turístic).
The Montjuïc cable car provides the most splendid views of Barcelona from the sky. It has 55 cars each with a capacity for 8 people. It carries 1.4 million people up to Castell de Montjuïc every year. It underwent complete refurbishment in 2007.
The Tramvia Blau or blue tram is the last romantic, a vintage vehicle from the early 20th century. It carries 150,000 passengers a year, on a trip through time up Tibidabo. Its run is short—1.3 km—up to the Tibidabo funicular, which goes to the top of the mountain.
Barcelona Bus Turístic is the city's official sightseeing bus. It covers three routes (one of them in the summer only), with 45 stops, and a fleet of 70 buses, most of them open-top double-deckers. It carries 2 million passengers who make a total of 5,5 million journeys a year. It also operates a special night-time service (Barcelona Bus Turístic by Night) during the summer months, which stops at the Montjuïc Magic Fountain.
Catalunya Bus Turístic is a similar service that visits places of interest outside Barcelona. Coaches leave from Barcelona and take visitors to a number of destinations where they can enjoy Montserrat, the art of Dalí, wine and cava culture, the city of Girona, the best shopping and much more.
