Infringments and statements
You are committing a fraud offence if, during a ticket inspection:
- You fail to produce a ticket.
- You produce an invalid ticket, for instance:
- A ticket that has not been marked.
- A marked personalised ticket without having the corresponding identification.
You have exceeded the maximum time allowed on the metro or bus. Once you mark your metro ticket, it is valid for two hours. On the bus, once validated you can go as far as the end of the line in the direction in which you are travelling (except Bus del Barri and other circular routes, where you can travel the whole route). After this time, your ticket is no longer valid.
In such cases, inspectors will impose a penalty fare of €100.
If the penalty fare is imposed for travelling with a social fare card, a single- or large-family travel card without the corresponding ID as proof of your right to use it, the penalty fare will have no effect if, within 48 hours, you submit the appropriate justifying document at a Punt TMB.
Uncivilised behaviour is not associated with improper use of travel cards and tickets; it concerns infringement of passenger regulations and in the case of the Barcelona bus and metro may incur fines of up to €6000.
Such infractions are not administered by TMB. Statements of claim for this type of infraction must be lodged with the competent Authority within the timeframe and in the manner stipulated in the notification of proceedings being brought.
Request for information on proceedings for fraud and uncivilised behaviour
The details of infraction proceedings are confidential. To request information in this regard, you must do so in person at a Punt TMB and show your ID card or passport.
If you send another person to request such information on your behalf, he/she must provide:
- Photocopy of front and back of your ID card or passport.
- Original and photocopy of his/her ID card or passport.
- Your written authorisation.
If the proceedings involve a minor, original and photocopy of the Llibre de família (booklet of family details) or a certificate of guardianship or similar.
