The new bus network
This autumn four new high-performance bus lines enter service in the network.
Linked by a network
A new phase of the new bus network started on 13 November with the entry into service of four new high-performance lines that join the 17 in operation since 2012. Two new local bus lines also start running.
When fully operational, in autumn 2018, the Barcelona bus network will comprise a total of 98 lines: 43 conventional urban and intercity lines, 27 Bus del Barri or local buses and 28 high-performance lines.
We're making strides in introducing new bus lines. Make the network yours!
New bus lines entering service
- D40 (Pl. Espanya - Via Favència)
- V5 (Mare de Déu de Port - Pedralbes)
- V29 (Diagonal Mar - Roquetes)

In addition, two new local lines start running:
Changes to routes and stops
The introduction of this new phase brings about changes to routes and stops.
These new buses run on the straightest and most direct routes possible, designed to be efficient and logical and easy to use.
Existing bus lines that coincide with new ones are replaced to avoid repetition and cover straighter routes to be faster and more frequent. In this phase the following buses cease to operate: 20, 26, 32, 36, 37, 40 and 57.
New stops have been made on these routes, while others have been moved to facilitate operation, bring lines closer together and equal distances between stops.

The new Barcelona bus map
The bus network changes with new vertical lines (V5, V29 and V31), a diagonal line (D40) and 18 interchange hubs to aid connections and intermodality: better links between bus lines and other modes of public transport (metro, FGC, Tram).
