Transport race 2017
Date: 21st of September
The Transport Race is in its fourteenth edition. This is an event, held during Safe and Sustainable Mobility Week, in which entrants travel from a starting point to a common destination. Participants use various modes of transport in order to compare the cost, environmental impact and journey time of each one. It is not a race to see who finishes fastest, but to simulate a journey to work, for study or an errand while abiding by traffic regulations and using public transport properly. The results help to illustrate the benefits of sustainable mobility for the environment.
Participants will be given a snack at the end of their journey and a voucher for free travel on public transport. The organisers will reimburse motorbike and car drivers for the cost of fuel and parking.
The event will be held in various parts of Catalonia. Races will take place in the Barcelona metropolitan area as follows:
- Badalona: Tuesday 19 September, in the afternoon
- From a number of towns in the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona: Wednesday 20 September, in the morning
- Barcelona: Thursday 21 September, in the afternoon
The Transport Race will also be held in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Lleida and El Camp de Tarragona.
