Promoting culture

TMB's cultural project reinforces our commitment to promoting culture. As a project, TMB Culture establishes links between the public and cultural associations in Barcelona and the metropolitan area in order to bring culture to the public through our installations and to enrich the experience of travelling on public transport. TMB Culture is currently involved in four large events:

Primavera Cultural

In the spring of 2010 we started an ambitious project called Primavera Cultural. It is a programme of cultural events set against the background of spring in Barcelona. This cultural spring festival is a pleasant stroll through graphic art, music, the performing arts and literature that aims to foster the city's social and cultural values within the framework of public transport and sustainable mobility.

Subtravelling Festival

In autumn 2009 the Barcelona metro hosted the 1st Mostra Internacional de Curtmetratges al Metro or Metro International Short Film Festival, otherwise known as the Subtravelling Festival. The festival offers passengers the chance to watch short films in the small cinema installed in Universitat station, and also on screens on the platforms and inside the trains.

Músics al Metro

The Festival de Músics al Metro (Musicians in the Metro Festival) is a real marathon of concerts given by singers and musicians who busk regularly in certain parts of the metro network. Organised by the Barcelona Association of Street Musicians (Associació de Músics de Carrer – AMUC) in collaboration with the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona City Council, Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB), the Convent de Sant Agustí Civic Centre and the Barcelona Institute of Culture, the festival is the only one of its kind in Spain.

Concurs de Relats Curts Online

The Online Short Story Competition is an annual event for lovers of literature. Giving free rein to the imagination, creating, living, sharing and, above all, writing are some of the many things on which entrants base their public transport stories. This version 2.0 received support from such well-known writers as Màrius Serra, Emili Teixidor, Matilde Asensi or Maruja Torres, who have also shared their own stories. If you like writing and reading other people's stories, this is the competition for you!
